Set in the verdant grasslands north of Kamuela with dramatic views to Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, this upcountry weekend home is a reinterpretation of the paniolo structures that have defined the architectural style of the area. The walls are clad with an interlocking zinc panel that is a reverse of the board and batten. The home is entirely of the grid with wind generation and photovoltaics. The interior wall finish is natural clay and the floors are cork plank.
